Thrilling Taiwan (Part 2)

Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT station

We were here to take a bus to Chiufen. I love Chiufen, but this day is the worst day of the trip though... Luckily unhappiness was not stirred up while we were still in Chiufen, or else it is really a big big spoiler. It is convenient that there is direct bus to Chiufen, and there wasn't many passengers on board, so there were seats available. When nearing Chiufen, we saw a temple within the mountains, literally, but sadly failed to take a proper pic of it.

Chiufen

I also don't know how to describe Chiufen, but life seems peaceful there, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. In Chinese, I call it 世外桃源, people leisurely carrying their various activities, no disturbance, no commotions. We ate quite a couple of things, and I shall just use pictures here.

A street in Chiufen

Peanut and ice-cream wrapped in popiah skin, nice!

This is very nice as well, but too bad didn't take a picture of the food itself.

Right side one 卤肉贩, the other two forgot. Personally don't like the top one.

Oh yes, I bought most of the gifts for fellow friends over here as well. I simply love the shops because there is a huge selection of souvenirs you can purchase. Going to Chiufen felt like being transported back to the older days... Even if you are not that aged, you may still be reminded of your individual childhood times. Those times...how we were still innocent and naive, how we imagined ourselves as supermen or superwomen, how we cry at the sight of trivial things, our childish antics... Chiufen is a place of reminiscence.

1350
Yinyang Sea

We took the same bus as that we took from Zhongxiao Fuxing station to Chiufen, further up the mountains to watch the Yinyang sea. Though the sea was not ultra clear, it was still quite visible. Anyway, the view of the landscape from higher up the mountain was splendid. So, what else? Pictures here and there lo.

Chiufen at the background, and uncommon plants in the foreground.

Not very clear view of the sea.
Next, we took a bus a Keelung. Well, here was where the unhappiness started. Don't know why, but I just didn't feel like goign to Keelung. The place was recommended by the receptionist at the hotel, and yeah, there is a direct bus to Keelung from Chiufen. It will be a smooth plan, but the problem is we never did any research on that place and moreover, I felt we could go other places instead. The adventourous spirit, (which is actually one of the NCC values) suddenly vanished... I also didn't know why I cannot be more accomodating and why I wanted to leave that place. Anyway, we did take the bus to Keelung first...

Keelung, Miaokou (Temple Mouth)

My sister was very obliging...so she agreed to leave lor. Thinking back, it was really very very wasted. Should have at least finish exploring the night market there, and take more pictures. There was the word "Keelung" displayed on a hill, just like Hollywood like that. But we were both not in a good mood so didn't stop to snap any...haiz.

Only this we ate at Keelung Temple Mouth. Flavoured shaved ice.

Keelung Train Station

Yay, train, at least I tried this mode of transport while at Taiwan. But to me, it felt no different from MRT lah... Reached Taipei Main station at 1730, then switched to MRT back to Ximen station. Returned to hotel and the rest of the day was wasted watching variety shows in hotel. Actually still early la,could have gone to one more place at least. But no mood, go also no use.

Somewhere in Danshui

Just so you know, the hotel provided breakfast lah. Food isn't bad, but gets boring, so for the last three days, we go outside eat. And I skipped the waking up parts etc. No eat breakfast go explore, I think I can't handle la. We wanted to go Guanyin Mountain, but when we boarded a taxi, the driver told us that there was nothing to watch, and suggested going Jigong Temple. Ok lor, listened to him. After that he took us to explore the mountain, which was full of graves. Nothing to be scared of la, just that, though didn't go Guanyin Mountain, this change of plans didn't seem very enjoyable either. However, he was friendly and kept telling stories la.. He brought us to the grave of a wealthy Taiwanese, whose name I forgot. But I remember there are two words, and his surname is "Cai".

So silly to go Danshui in the morning. Danshui old streets should not have too many stalls operating, and Fisherman's Wharf at night see then better ma. So the taxi driver drove us to Xinbeitou MRT station, but along the way, stopped at Guandu pier.

Taken just outside Danshui MRT station.

Jigong Temple

1400
Beitou

The MRT station is called Xinbeitou, but the place is still Beitou ba? This is the part I'm unsure of... We went to a bathhouse first :D There labelled "hot spring water", and I think it's genuine la... Didn't go public hot spring because I'm a shy guy. HAHA. I guess readers must be puking now or trying to hit me. Soaked until 1440, then wanted to go other places... BUT! As it is a Monday, the Thermal Valley and the Hot Spring Musuem closed lah! TAKE NOTE LEH, MONDAY.

The bathhouse we went to.

1500
The Wooden Library

This library is cool. Don't know how to describe. In fact, I don't feel like describing la, but ultra conducive for research or homework, trust me.

After that just took pictures here and there, and took MRT back to Ximen.

The very nice library. You should go in and take a look yourself. I didn't look at the books at all, coz I seldom read, lol. Would be a good place for bookworms though :P

1627
85 Degree Celsius Cafe

Not that the wall temperature registers 85degrees or the water they serve is at 85degress, but I just don't know how the cafe got it's name. But...who cares? What you need to know is the food, the food! Look:

Mine is 法式千层 or French Thousand Layers (yellow one). I forgot the name for my sister's one. Oh, and the drink is 巧克力布丁奶茶 or Chocolate Pudding Milk Tea. Listen to the name already wanna eat liao, at least for me.
The taste of the layered cake...goodness and heavenly...it just melt in your mouth. Your tongue can really feel the layers... It is not just once piece of soft cake! It's like a layer of softness, then a little resistance before another layer of soft. Creamy, but not too over, just the right amount to tempt you asking for more and not make you sick of it. The smell lingers in your mouth and make you wanna lick the wrapping clean as well! Well, I already tried my best to describe. If it don't help, only one advice: Eat to believe.
Returned to hotel and after that and left again shortly to Kunming Station to meet Yanping and her family. For what? For "Guess" filming! Damn cool experience and rather spontaneous.
