First Post of 2014

Watched the LIVE streaming of Taipei's Countdown Party, like last year. This time no duty on New Year's eve, but stayed at home. Not too bad, can save money. Parents also stayed at home right after work, as usual, not say went out for a special meal. Sometimes I envy my friends for having more spirited and vibrant parents. My dad likes to talk without actions. Still hasn't brought my mum to Thailand, and I doubt he will do it in this lifetime. Definitely not held back by financial difficulties. I think it might be due to him being afraid to venture into the unknown, or some other reasons. I make my life less dull by going out, but that burns a huge hole in my pocket. I guess I have to learn to deal with solitary and find things to do while at home. Off topic already, back to the party. Singapore really can learn a lot from how the organizers put up Taipei's party. Singapore can strongly consider putting up lyrics of songs on the screen. When singers are performing, they can play slideshows of pictures or something instead of some random visualizations - lame colour effects. Fireworks display got boring after a short while. Looked like they tried to lengthen the duration to make up for the lack of spectacularity (since it's all at the same space and area), but I think it didn't really work, so might as well cut it shorter.

Shall no longer share Instagram photos on Facebook. No use repeating photos at 2 different sites. Plus it's mostly food, shall not keep disturbing and bombarding people with those temptations. Hope anyone who openly or secretly stalk me for food places can enjoy their food hunt, but warning, it is an "expensive hobby". Also, I don't get a lot of likes so actually I feel unappreciated. Sounds attention-seeking but really, likes give you some sort of recognition and drive. Saw an article on Huffington Post. According to the writer, FB posts are annoying if they don't do any positivity to others. Food porn aren't totally not helping. People can get an idea of some good eating places, and what to go for and to avoid, if there are reviews accompanying the photos. But mostly they cause only temptation as people might not want to spend so much on just food. Plus it can be kind of overwhelming at times. Ok, I understand. Anyway, sometimes I really think some of my photos are deserving of more likes than some photos some people post, but it does not turn out that way. This is an unbecoming thinking, but I'm being honest. Some quotes I find damn well-written, like this from Life of Pi "I suppose in the end, the whole of life becomes an act of letting go, but what always hurts the most is not taking a moment to say goodbye." But it does not strike universal chords. Damn weird. Is my mentality or standard of appreciation too out of the norm? Lol, first post of 2014 like not very positive or happy. Shall end off with beautiful stuff. (Some content added on 6/1/2014)
