Think You Know?

When someone told me some time ago that he is an "open book" who will "answer any question" asked and that he is someone who is "easy to understand", my mind immediately screamed "fallacy".

Fallacy indeed.

I don't think there will be a person who will share personal affairs simply with anyone, and there are times when you just prefer solace and wouldn't talk about a particular matter, or you just don't wish to talk about something which you can't comprehend fully yourself. And who can truly say they understand themselves? A person might have some distinctive traits that immediately spring to mind of others when asked to describe that person, but that doesn't mean that the person is easy to understand. I'd like to think that humans are capricious, even if they might be predictive most of the time. When you flare up at someone because of someone's annoying trait, ask yourself if you have had a preconceived notion and turned it into hyperbole. Drawing reference from an out-of-usual action to question the possibility of a future action need not be parallel to the belief that there is a revolution to someone's life. Double whammy if a person receives rebuke when original intentions are kind.

Recently I find myself enjoying taking a shower in the dark. Don't get me wrong, not in a pitch-black environment but with faint rays of light and nope, it's not that I wouldn't mind being visually impaired. For some, darkness perhaps instill fear and uneasiness, but somehow, I find some sort of comfort in it. It's like I'm temporarily detached from all worldly affairs as all problems seem to disintegrate in the dark. Or perhaps the streaks of light gleaming through the glass window are symbolic to this hope that is constantly alight despite in a helpless, precarious situation. Acknowledging the problems but still knowing there's a way out - that is what is so relatable.

I started on the season finale of GoT few days ago and finished it in 2 days. Episode 3 really left me dumbfounded and I spoiled myself by fast-forwarding the last episode to see who would be the last men standing before returning to episode 3 to continue the story. I feel alright with the ending; don't really understand the uproar of some who demand the season finale to be re-written. Yeah Jon and Dany didn't get together in the end, but so what? Aren't you sick of the typical fairytale kind of ending? We see how maniacal Dany had turned into. If she didn't die, she would probably be on a killing spree while ruling the kingdoms given her overpowering thirst for power. And it wasn't all bad endings anyway. The North seceded from the other six kingdoms and Arya is set for new adventures and discoveries, for instance. As for the issue of being "rushed"... how much more character or plot development would one expect? It is already obvious from previous seasons how a character is like and how they feel for another. Season 8 is merely of revelations. GoT is not a lengthy family drama you know? I believe if there were more episodes to make it seem not so "rushed", there would be another group of people who would find the show overly draggy. People might say the show went downhill from season 5, but the final episode still broke viewership records. Things might not have turned out they way they wanted but it is undeniably a show that has continuously captivated people's attention. Oh and I feel that the final reason had continued the trend of unpredictability and ruthlessness as with other seasons and that alone is praiseworthy.

By the way, I feel the lyrics to Imagine Dragon's "Bad Liar" can be meaningfully dissected and examined. They are too interesting. The contradictions reflected in the song are really what hit life on a regular, if not daily basis.

[Verse 1]
Oh, hush, my dear, it's been a difficult year
And terrors don’t prey on innocent victims
Trust me, darlin', trust me darlin'
It’s been a loveless year
I'm a man of three fears:
Integrity, faith, and crocodile tears
Trust me, darlin', trust me, darlin'

[Pre-Chorus]
So look me in the eyes (Eyes), tell me what you see (You see)
Perfect paradise (—Dise), tearin' at the seams (Seams)
I wish I could escape it (Escape), I don't wanna fake it
Wish I could erase it (Erase), make your heart believe

[Chorus]
But I'm a bad liar, bad liar
Now you know, now you know
I'm a bad liar, bad liar
Now you know, you’re free to go

[Verse 2]
Did all my dreams never mean one thing?
Does happiness lie in a diamond ring?
Oh, I’ve been askin' for—
Oh, I’ve been askin' for problems, problems, problems
I wage my war, on the world inside
I take my gun to the enemy's side
Oh, I've been askin’ for— (Trust me, darlin')
Oh, I've been askin' for (Trust me, darlin') problems, problems, problems

[Pre-Chorus]
So look me in the eyes (Eyes), tell me what you see (You see)
Perfect paradise (—Dise), tearin' at the seams (Seams)
I wish I could escape it (Escape), I don't wanna fake it
Wish I could erase it (Erase), make your heart believe

[Chorus]
But I'm a bad liar, bad liar
Now you know, now you know
I'm a bad liar, bad liar
Now you know, you're free to go

[Bridge]
I can't breathe, I can't be
I can't be what you want me to be
Believe me, this one time
Believe me

[Chorus]
I'm a bad liar, bad liar
Now you know, now you know
I'm a bad liar, bad liar
Now you know, you're free to go

[Outro]
Oh-oh-oh
Please believe me
Please believe me
