From One Kid to Another

Chanced upon a clip of a 9yo cancer survivor encouraging a 7yo who is currently undergoing the same hardship as he did. He segues carefully into the subject of the illness and is mindful of avoiding being direct with its ghastly aspects (notice how he stops himself from asking which cancer it is). Yes I'm sure he is being prompted at certain times, but still, he is trying his best to overcome the awkwardness and empathise with the girl. It is obvious that independent thoughts are running in his mind when he looks away at the ground or at the ceiling. The criticism of his drawing is also well-taken. How many kids his age can be so gentle and patient in a situation like this? Overall, a display of tremendous understanding and tact from this precocious, decorous little boy.

Chadwick Boseman also passed away recently due to cancer. The final tweet from his twitter account is now the most-liked of all time. One reason why his death garnered widespread coverage and attention is how he was "an inspiring symbol of Black power and racial progress", like how NBC puts it. Hopefully he continues to inspire future generations and be cited like Martin Luther King Jr, and not just a fleeting surge in attention. Also, don't take your health for granted. Or rather, don't take anything for granted.

You know how they say kids copy your actions? Especially when living under the same roof, the influences are even more impactful. I witnessed how my younger niece copies her elder sister by whining, "You scold me every day, Dad." I doubt the reason behind the scoldings are understood, and while this statement may sound like a joke, there are some truthful resentment behind it. I feel that the upbringing really needs to be worked on, but at the same time I think I should not be too meddlesome in another household's affairs. Anyway, the point I would like to make is, the surroundings can really make a profound impact on a person's growth, even as adults. Immerse in good vibes...and emanate some too.
